Book Nook: Women Rocking Business

I recently had a chance to review Women Rocking Business: The Ultimate Step-by-Step Guidebook to Create a Thriving Life Doing Work You Love. It's a great book for dispelling stereotypes, like outdated pantsuits and shrewish female bosses. There's still an idea out there that women need to have the same edge traditionally given off by men to be successful. But more and more, the business world is changing - for both men and women.
Women are starting businesses 1.5 times faster than men1, and Sage Lavine, former school teacher turned CEO of a now million dollar company, has been on a 10 year-long mission to squash stereotypes and help women unlock their unique entrepreneurial potential without compromising their values. Her opinion is that women can do what they love and channel their purpose to have a better work-life balance and couple feeling fulfilled with making money. Her company provides advice on starting and growing women-led business, focusing on working together and empower others rather than competing and gaining power. She's helped tens of thousands of women, and now provides that advice to others in her book.

In the book, Sage explains how to use innate people-pleasing tendencies and values like generosity to be successful. She encourages women to charge what they're worth and to exhibit both vulnerability and credibility. I loved how she incorporates generosity and purpose into business, attracting customers who really buy in to the mission of the company - and also how to transform weaknesses into business strengths.
